The TALBOK™ Initiative

Three different set of standards are incorporated in the TALBOK™ Initiative:

  • The principles of the Quality Management System standards of the revised ISO 9001:2000 series: customer focus, leadership, involvement of people, process approach, system approach to management, continual improvement, factual approach to decision making and mutually beneficial supplier relationships.
  • The processes defined by the IEEE Standard 1490-2003: IEEE Guide (©IEEE) Adoption of PMI Standard - A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (©PMI). This IEEE Standard presents the knowledge and practices described as applicable to most projects most of the time, and that there is widespread consensus about their value and usefulness.
  • The reusable learning standards of the SCORM specifications and standards maintained and documented by the Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative. SCORM is short for Sharable Content Object Reference Model. It consists of a set of specifications and standards. SCORM addresses interoperability between content and the platforms that deliver the content. SCORM derives from work done by the Aviation Industry CBT Committee (AICC), the IMS Global Learning Consortium, the IEEE Learning Technology Standards committee and others.

The courseware delivered through the TALBOK™ Initiative follows an analytical framework which is the brainchild of Dr. Iris Stammberger, PMP - the Stammberger analytical framework for the design and deployment of teaching and learning human-technology systems.
